December 23, 2011, Dateline Spokane, WA–
On one of the colder nights of the year (something in the teens– it wasn’t a bad winter) I went out to get some shots of fog and “hoarfrost”. I took both my Canon DSLR and my Bronica GS-1, a medium format film camera. This shot was taken with the Bronica (6×7 cm negative.) We usually get some frozen fog at least once per year, some years better than others. I’ve had two chances this year, these shots from December 23rd and another round in January. These conditions create some of the most interesting light conditions– diffuse light emanating from various sources, unique textures of plant life under frost, water with wisps of fog, softness everywhere. Now that I have my 2,000+ “artistic” images all in one Aperture Library I’ll be able to sort and share them here on the website and in my SmugMug account. (It’s about time!)
